2023 AGM: Registration and Call for Questions

COTBC’s 2023 AGM will be held Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm.

This year’s AGM will be conducted virtually. Your questions are important to us and given the online format, participants will be able to observe the proceedings, and listen, but will not be able to talk directly to the presenters during the meeting itself.

The following is provided for your reference:

Your questions are important to us. If you wish to submit a question to be answered during the AGM, please email it to info@cotbc.org by November 7, at 5:00 pm, and enter ‘AGM 2023 Question’ in the subject line.

Questions will be themed and where possible, answered during a scheduled Q&A portion of the agenda.

The College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia is pleased to inform registrants that the 2022 Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held during cOnnecT Day.

For those that are unable to attend in-person, the cOnnecT Day events, including the AGM, will be offered virtually as well.

    How to Register for cOnnecT Day

    cOnnecT Day takes place on November 5, 2022. Plan to join us for a day of learning, reflecting, and connecting. This year, speakers discuss the importance of delivering anti-racist culturally safe care.

    Highlights include:

    Harmony Johnson, vice president of Indigenous Wellness & Reconciliation at Providence Health Care, joins us to reflect on the In Plain Sight report and its calls to action to improve equity in health care. She will help us to consider the implications for OTs by building a practical understanding of what Indigenous specific racism is, how it has been woven into health care in BC, and what we can do to make changes in our practice.

    UBC–OSOT Professor and Department Head Sue Forwell will share an update on the exciting expansion of the occupational therapy program at UBC’s Faculty of Medicine and their efforts on Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.

    Recording of COTBC 2021 Annual General Meeting Available

    The College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia held their 2021 annual general meeting on Friday, November 5, via Zoom. You can watch or listen to the recorded virtual meeting including answers to questions the College received in advance of the event.

    Questions answered in the virtual AGM:

      1. Is there anything new you can tell us about the Ministry of Health’s recommendations to reduce the number of colleges, where COTBC merges into a multi-profession college?
      2. Will COVID-19 vaccination be required to be registered as an occupational therapist in British Columbia? Should I choose to go off the register because of my vaccination choices, or if I am currently off the register, and want to return to practice, what will the requirements be?
      3. Is there a plan to update the Occupational Therapists Regulation so that occupational therapists can perform restricted activities, such as acupuncture?
      4. Can the College elaborate on the changes to the Quality Assurance Program that were described in the current Annual Report?

    In the continuing interest of safety and to best support registrants from across the province to attend, this year’s AGM will be conducted virtually. To attend, please register in advance.

    Given the online format, participants will be able to observe the proceedings, and listen, but will not be able to talk directly to the presenters during the meeting itself.

    The following is provided for your reference:

    Thanks to those occupational therapists who submitted their questions in advance of the meeting. After reviewing and theming the submissions, the following questions will be answered during the AGM Q&A Session:

    1. Is there anything new you can tell us about the Ministry of Health’s recommendations to reduce the number of colleges, where COTBC merges into a multi-profession college?

    Planning is underway for a separate cOnnecT Forum. Historically, cOnnecT Forums are held in November. This year, due to the ongoing pandemic, the cOnnecT Forum is being postponed until the new year in hopes that we will be able to safely meet in person. Please watch for details.
